2021/22 Season begins
Date of Event Wollongong District Cricket Club: Sat Nov 13, 2021 11:02PM

With both Rounds 1 & 2 washed out for 1st & 2nd Grade, it was the lower Grade that got the first Senior Grade games of Season 2021/22. Our two T20 Womens sides were both washed out in their 1st Round games yesterday.  Some of our Junior got on last weekend, and again this morning.

So, it’s a slow start to 2021/22, with the weather in charge!

The 3rd Grade Maroon recorded our first win of the season with a resounding 2-bonus point win over Corrimal.  Bowling first, we bowled out the Cougars for 82.  Wickets were shared around….and the runs were also as we chased down the win in the 18th over.

Our 3s Whites & 4s Whites were both washed out against IPCC without a ball being bowled.

Our 3s Black arrived at Wisemans Park to find Keira feverishly drying up the ground.  Keen for a game, but after they made 1/121, and 6 of our fielders ended up slipping over (and one off to hospital) the match was abandoned.

4th Grade Maroons had a good win over Nth Dists Blue.  Batting first, we made 9/257.  Special mention to Muhammad Abdullah Raffique with 87, Muhammad Abubakar 42 n.o. & Lokesh Samudi 39,  With the ball, Yasir Mehmood took 4/22 and NDs were all out 183.

Our 4s Blue didn’t go so well against Helensburgh though.

Our U15s have stepped up into the U15 As competition.  It’s a challenge they are up for, after winning the U13Bs premiership last season.  We have been competitive in our Round 1 & 2 games, even though taking losses in both.  Lots to learn.

Our U13Bs have had both their games washed out.

And  we have three Under 11s teams out there having a game this season.  Win or Lose, it doesn’t matter…just learning the game.

And to round it all out, we began our Master Blasters and Junior Blaster programs at North Dalton Park this morning.  Great to see so many kids out their enjoying having a hit & a bowl.
