What a fabulous day yesterday. Not only did the Senior Grade results go our way, but we had some wonderful paintings created, juniors running around, plenty of sponsors, and lots of old boys turn up throughout the day…and some food platters (from Fresh @5 Bridge St) and a tasty Indian dinner (from Fairy Meadow Caltex). And a good turnout from the opposition lower grade players of Balgownie to watch the finish to the 1st Grade match. And the night kicked on… It made all the effort worthwhile to keep the NDP & DPW turf pitches dry during the week. Thanks to everyone that chipped in with the preparations, and also to those that came along and enjoyed the day.
1st Grade were in a lot of bother at 4/32, but a steady innings from Duncan Maddinson (46), and a typical run a ball 33 from Dave Studholme got us back in the game. We finished with 9/176 off our 50 overs. Balgownie were 7/30, and finished all out 98, with William Whitehouse (4/30) and Andrew McRae (4/28) doing most of the early damage. A win to our 1s.
2nd Grade bowled Balgownie out for 64. Truman Driscoll took 7/22!! Wow. You might blame the pitch…it was a little soft…but our boys came out and reached 0/65 in the 18th over. Matt Crouch made 40 n.o. to continue his good start to the Season. A win to our 2s.
3rd Grade Whites were up against Keira Black. Sam Maher made 55 & Shazaib Noor made 41, to lead us to a total of 6/208 off 45 overs. In reply Keira were all out 109, with Imran Zafar taking 5/12. A win to our 3s White.
3rd Grade Maroon had a spiteful match against Uni Green. Uni made 115, but bowled us out for 69.
4s Black beat Balgownie. We bowled Balgownie out for 80. Ulises Jaque took 4/12, and there was a return to the Club for Jahangir Jadoon with 2/15 and a catch to ensure that Taye Rawiri (a 13 year old on debut) took his first wicket in Grade. Travis Dutton (37 n.o.) & Michael Bryant (30) got us to the win 1/81.
It was a tough road trip to the Burgh for our 4s White. After bowling them out for 164, we were well in the game. Will Douglas doing well with 4/23, and Syed Bukhari in debut took 3/34. But we couldn’t do much more than India…all out for 39. Ashan Nawaz making 23 of those.
Our U11s made 2/168 against Dapto Gold 51.
Our U13Bs made 4/135, and bowled out Wests Blue for 81. Max Varda took 3/10
U17Bs had a Bye.
